Owners have until the end of February to register for the Plus 10 bonus scheme.
Plus 10 is an industry-funded bonus scheme for British and Irish Flat thoroughbred owners and breeders which pays £10,000 bonuses to qualified two and three-year-old winners of Plus 10 races.
The bonus is shared between a horse’s registered owner, the payers of the scheme’s first two registration stages – typically the breeder and in some cases pin-hooker – and trainer, jockey and stable staff.
Each year, more than £5.5 million in bonus prize money will be made available across more than 550 races in Britain and Ireland.
The eligible races in Britain are: (2yo) all Class 2, 3 and 4 Maiden, Novice and Conditions and Class 5 Fillies Only Maiden and Novice races; (3yo) all Class 2, 3 and 4 Maiden and Conditions and Class 5 Fillies Only Maiden races (subject to the total prize fund being less than £100,000).
The Plus 10 Owner Registration must be paid by 28 February in order for 2015 born horses to qualify to win a £10,000 bonus as a two or three-year-old.
More than £8 million in bonus prize money has been won since 2015, shared amongst the owners, breeders and trainers of 769 horses. This year alone, £5.5 million will be up for grabs for those racing Plus 10 horses.
Breeze-up buyers purchasing Plus 10 horses can also get in on the bonus-racing action by taking advantage of a two-week post-sale window to qualify their horse for Plus 10.
