Industry Ownership Days launched

Fakenham RacecourseThe Racehorse Owners Association will be hosting 12 Industry Ownership Days up and down the UK during 2019. The days are intended both to recognise existing members and to promote the thrill and accessibility of ownership to potential racehorse owners.

For ROA members the Industry Ownership Days will incorporate the popular regional meetings which include lunch and an update from the ROA Chief Executive as well as an opportunity to use the racecourse facility for the day. Regional meetings continue to be popular with our members and we look forward to seeing many of you over the course of the year. To allow more members to enjoy the Industry Ownership Days, racecourses will also offer complimentary admission to all ROA members.

The ROA team will be on hand and the day will see a well-known figure in racing act as an ownership host. The first event of 2019 will be held at Fakenham (pictured) on Thursday January 24 and Mick Fitzgerald will be assisting the ROA team in promoting and celebrating racehorse ownership. For future meetings Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) will parade horses to showcase their different successes after their careers in racing.

The ROA will sponsor the entire day’s racecard and members will be invited to take part in the numerous post-race presentations for winners including the ROA Owners Jackpot race which gives a £2,000 bonus to the winning horse if it’s majority-owned by ROA members.

Invitations for the regional meeting and lunch have been posted to owners who live locally, and places are on a first-come, first served basis. Free racecourse entry for ROA members on the Industry Ownership Days is available through or by calling 0207 152 0200.

ROA Chief Executive Charlie Liverton said: “We wanted to evolve the successful regional meetings and make the raceday much more inclusive for our members and much more focussed on ownership and the industry as a whole. Our thanks also go to the industry stakeholders for their support of this initiative including the Levy Board. The day will hopefully put a spotlight on the valuable contribution owners make to our sport and hopefully stimulate some enthusiasts to join us in the wonderful experience that owning a racehorse, however big or small, provides.”
