Going to the races
Owners Badge Allocation
As a racehorse owner, you are entitled to an allocation of owners’ badges on days when your horse is racing.
You will be issued with a PASS card, with which you can gain access to the racecourse when you have a runner and will allow you to pick up your allocation of badges for the day.
These vary from course to course but are likely to include:
- Four free badges for horses in sole ownership.
- Between six and ten free badges for horses in joint ownership/racing partnerships.
It is important to note that courses will often agree to provide additional badges, and/or a reduced rate for extra badges if a horse is owned by a large partnership. This should always be arranged in advance of the raceday.
Owners' badge allocations vary from course to course. Check the RCA Owners Guide to Racecourses for further information of each course's badge allocations and owner facilities, such as:
- Free car parking.
- Free racecards.
- Use of special owners’ facilities, e.g. a section of the grandstand, bars or tearooms.
- Access to the saddling area, pre-parade ring and parade ring and to the racecourse stables in company with your trainer.
- Some courses provide complimentary lunches (usually booked in advance), and/or other refreshments for owners.
Most courses provide celebratory hospitality for the connections of the winning horses, usually a room where you can watch a replay of the race and toast your victory with a glass of something bubbly!
Members should note that the ROA benefit the Racecourse Badge Scheme for Owners does not apply on days when they have a runner, e.g. to obtain an extra badge.
The PASScard Consierge scheme is run by the Racecourse Association.
PASScards have been sent to all active registered racehorse owners. This card will act as your means of admittance when you have a runner. It has also been linked to your ROA membership and can be activated for the Racecourse Badge Scheme for Owners when you qualify.
Registered owners who are not ROA members are sent a PASS card when the first entry is made under their ownership.
Through the system, Owners can log into the RCA's Pass concierge facility (rcapass.com) and pre-designate their allocation of badges to their guests.
But don't worry if you do not have access to the internet regularly, as your card will continue to work as your previous PASScard or Horse Racing Privilege Card did when you present it at the Owners and Trainers entrance.
If you have not yet received your new PASScard or log in details, please contact the RCA directly on their PASScard Helpline - 01933 270 333.
Your allocation of badges on days when you have a runner will be available to view on the online PASScard system after 2pm on the day of declaration.
The majority of tracks try to be flexible with owners’ requests when made in advance, and owners are encouraged to contact the racecourse as early as possible if they have any queries or special requests or wish to book a table in the restaurant.
How to use the PASS system
To reserve your badges when you have a runner, the RCA have devised the PASS Consierge Service. This allows the racecourse to communicate details of the day with you, helps owners manage their badge allocation and pre-allocate the badges to their guests and allow them to print tickets at home.
For syndicates and partnerships, only the registered owners or nominated partners will have access to the PASS system. Members should contact their syndicate manager for badge allocations.
Owners who have registered with Weatherbys will have received an email from firstname.lastname@example.org inviting them to set up their PASS account.
After you have set up your account, to order your badges each time you have a runner go to www.rcapass.com and use your email address, Member ID (on the front of your PASScard) and your password to log in.
You will then be directed to the "My Fixtures" page. here you will see the fixtures your horse(s) have been declared for. You will see this information from 2pm on the day of declarations.
Select the "More" button next to the relevant fixture name. Here you have the opportunity to enter the names of your chosen guests. Press "Submit" when you have done so. If you enter their email address and phone number the system will automatically send them a print at home ticket. Alternatively, they can pick up their badges upon arrival at the Owners & Trainers desk.
If you did not receive the initial email to set up your account, or do not have an email registered with Weatherbys, contact the PASS Helpdesk on 01933 270333 or email@example.com
Racecourse Badge Scheme for Owners
Your PASScard is also your means of entry for when you go racing without a runner and are activated onto the Racecourse Badge Scheme for Owners.
