To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the QIPCO British Champions Series this year, Great British Racing are launching The QIPCO British Champions Series Flat Racing Hall of Fame, immortalising the Modern Greats of British Flat racing - equine and human - from 1970 onwards.
New Hall of Famers will be chosen by an independent judging panel made up of industry experts and will be inducted at two separate points during the Flat racing season: at the QIPCO Guineas Festival at Newmarket (May) and QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot (October). Hall of Famers can be selected from four different categories:
- Horses
- Jockeys
- Trainers
- Major contributors – acknowledging contributions of the likes of owners, breeders and other leading influencers.
The first inductees have been announced with legends of the turf Lester Piggott and Frankel rightfully claiming their place.
Today also marks the launch of the dedicated website Horseracinghof.com, which will celebrate both Hall of Famers and figures of historical importance with written, pictorial and video content.
