ROA Members help raise £38,000 for Racing Welfare in 2025
The Racehorse Owners Association and Racing Welfare are delighted that £37,919 has been raised for the charity across 2025, largely thanks to the generosity and support of ROA Members.
A total of £23,000 was generated through this year’s Bid to Give auctions, with all proceeds going directly to Racing Welfare. Bid to Give auctions give members the opportunity to bid on once-in-a-lifetime sporting experiences - with all the proceeds going to the charity. In addition, a further £15,000 was raised through fundraising activities at ROA events, including the ROA Epsom Awards, underlining the strength and impact of the ongoing charitable partnership.
The funds have been raised at a time of increased demand for Racing Welfare’s services, with the charity’s welfare officers responding to a 17% increase in calls for help and delivering 11,425 interventions over the past year alone.
Dawn Goodfellow, Racing Welfare Chief Executive said:
“Partnerships such as the one we have with the ROA make a meaningful and lasting difference to the work of Racing Welfare. The ROA’s Epsom Awards are a clear example of this, providing us with the opportunity to fundraise in support of our beneficiaries, with this year’s associated auctions raising over £13,000. In addition, the ROA supports our Aintree Lunch and Bid to Give auctions, sponsors Racing Welfare’s recognisable branded staff kit, and provides further, valuable opportunities for engagement, including a dedicated Racing Welfare presence within the ROA tent at the Cheltenham Festival. Together, this partnership helps ensure our services are visible, accessible, and able to support those working across the racing industry when they need us most. We are extremely grateful for the ROA’s continued and valued support.”
Louise Norman, ROA Chief Executive, added:
“Racing Welfare plays a vital role in supporting the people who underpin our sport, often at times when help is most urgently needed. We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved through this partnership in 2025, with £38,000 raised largely thanks to the generosity and commitment of ROA Members. From Bid to Give and events such as the ROA Epsom Awards, to presence at major fixtures, this partnership reflects a shared belief that a strong and sustainable racing industry depends on looking after its people.”
The ROA and Racing Welfare look forward to continuing our partnership in 2026, ensuring that the charity’essential services remain visible, accessible and able to support racing’s people when they need it most.
