@ChelmsfordCRC

We are delighted to welcome Owners to Chelmsford City Racecourse (CCR) and trust that all our facilities meet our guests’ expectations. The racecourse sets out to be flexible and accommodating to all Owners’ requests and we will do our utmost to provide true Essex hospitality to ensure a memorable day.

We are also fully committed to prize-money at CCR and in recent years have made Executive contributions which are easily the highest average per fixture of all the All-Weather venues, and ranks third of all those flat tracks which do not stage Group 1 races. The racing surface is now in its seventh year of use since installation and has been further enhanced with £600,000 of investment since 2015.

How many badges can I have per runner from July 19

All racecourses will make every effort to supply this number of badges, but paddock access is dependent on field size in the race your horse is in.

ARC Racecourses

There are two options now for owners with runners at ARC courses:

OPTION A - 8 Owners Badges

8 badges are available for each horse, offering complimentary access to the racecourse, as well as the specific Owners facilities.  Complimentary food and a bar will be available to all Owners Badge holders, along with access to the Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure. Owners will be required to register via PASS ahead of the meeting, and can purchase extra badges at the O&T desk at 50% of on the day General Admittance, subject to capacity of O&T facilities.

OR

OPTION B - 15 Complimentary General Admittance Badges

Owners (particularly commercial syndicates) who would prefer to bring a higher number of people to watch their horse race, rather than specific catering or facilities may claim 15 complimentary general admittance badges to attend per horse.  In addition, each horse will be allocated 8 paddock passes to be shared amongst their group to be used ahead of their race.

To claim this option, please contact the specific syndicates email address that will be included in the letter your receive from the racecourse, noting the names of those who you wish to attend, and clearly noting the syndicate leader to whom paddock passes shall be allocated.

Current Pre-Arrival Requirements (Use of PASS System to Book Tickets)

IMPORTANT – Badges for you and your guests are now available for you to allocate. Please continue to do this via the Racecourse PASS System www.RCAPASS.com by 4pm on the day before the race meeting. You will see the number of badges available and we ask that you provide the required attendee details. Please do not register multiple guests in the same name. A simple step-by step guide to using the system is available from the RCA Website. If you do not have access to the PASS System or need any assistance in its use, please contact the PASS Helpdesk on 01933 270333 or pass@weatherbys.co.uk.

Advance booking via PASS enables racecourses to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place to support the Owners Raceday Experience. However, badges may now be collected on the day if not booked in advance. Arrangements for advance bookings and/or collection on the day can only be made by the nominated owner. Bookings will not be accepted by third parties on behalf of the Owner and unused badges must not be passed on.

Key Raceday considerations and arrival protocols are as follows:

  • Wherever possible, please pre-register to attend and allocate your tickets through the PASS system and remember to bring your PASS card;
  • Gates will be open 2 hours in advance of the first race.
  • We are encouraging all our guests to bring a face covering for use at their own discretion eg indoors (when not eating or drinking), to adopt good social distancing/hand washing practices, and to continue to use the NHS Test and Trace App
  • Please arrive at CCR via the main car park only ie adjacent to the northbound A131 dual carriageway (direction Braintree). No other site access is permitted at this time.
  • Please follow the signs and stewards’ instructions upon arrival at the main entrance gates (ie once you have turned off the A131).
  • You will be directed to parking in a designated area of the car park and a steward will indicate your walking route to the Owners’ entrance.
  • You are encouraged to scan the QR code via the NHS Test and Trace App on arrival.
  • There will be no entry testing or medical screening requirements.
  • You will be issued with a badge and welcome drinks voucher. We ask that you wear the badge at all times whilst on site.

Once you have your badge, please use the pedestrian route through the tunnel under the track and into the racecourse proper. We ask that you keep left along this route in line with the signage. You will be met at the end of the pedestrian route by a steward and directed to the Owners and Trainers facility.

Dedicated Owners and Trainers Area – Facilities and Food & Drink
With the general public now back at CCR after 16+ months and extra rooms still being required to provide jockeys with the requisite additional space under BHA requirements, we do continue to face some logistical challenges on site. However, we are pleased to be able to return to the usual dedicated Owners and Trainers Marquee and lawn area next to parade ring.

  • The Owners and Trainers facility will now be in the “Summer” Marquee as there is much more space for indoor seating as we approach the Winter months, and
  • The complimentary food offering has now moved to hot options rather than Summer cold platters

Racecards will be available in their usual format, the big screen and TVs will be in use as normaland betting facilities will be operating outside.

We are also very pleased to offer a complimentary welcome drink, summer platter, range of fresh sandwiches and a cash bar serving alcoholic drinks.

Parade Ring and Trainer/Jockey Interaction
As highlighted above, we are delighted to confirm that Owners can now access the parade ring before AND after their race. Social distancing and the use of face coverings is no longer mandatory, but encouraged. Presentations will again take place in the Winner's Enclosure and our usual paddock-side Winning Connections facility will reopen.

Raceday at Home
For those of you unable to attend on the day you will be able to download a copy of our racecard which will be sent to you by the ROA. If your horse should win, we will send a digital memento and winning photograph via your trainer. Our raceday photographer will be in attendance. Full information will be available on our website.

Thank you from CCR
All the team are hugely appreciative of your support in running your horse at CCR. If you are planning to join us, we aim to ensure your visit is an enjoyable and - hopefully - a winning one!
