Hamilton unveils £1.74m prize money for 2026

30 March 2026

Hamilton Park will celebrate their 100-year centenary season with record prize money set to exceed £1.74 Million, marking the richest race programme in the Lanarkshire resorts history with an increase of over £100,000 on their 2025 fixtures.

The 2026 centenary season will get underway on Sunday 3 May, featuring 18 fixtures across the summer months. Building on last year’s successes, Hamilton Park remain committed to delivering a progressive and competitive programme, with more than half of all races staged at Class 4 level or above. Total prize money at every fixture across the season will exceed the new British Horseracing Authority (BHA) minimum values by at least 25%, with the overall programme sitting an impressive 46% above those benchmarks.

Across the race programme, prize money has been enhanced to mark 100 years of racing at Hamilton Park, with increased funding distributed throughout the card and a continued focus on strengthening Class 3 and Class 4 contests. This ensures the centenary year delivers depth and quality on the track, with the aim of attracting competitive fields throughout the season, whilst also celebrating the racecourse’s long-standing commitment to the sport.

Highlights of the season include the return of the Sky Bet Sunday Series on 17 May, offering £215,550 in prize money and live ITV Racing coverage. The British Stallion Studs EBF Glasgow Listed Stakes on 17 July will see a significant increase in prize money of 45% to £80,000, while the Lanark Silver Bell Heritage Handicap remains the richest race of the season at £103,000. In addition, a new Class 3 handicap worth £25,000 will also be introduced in memory of former Chairman Sir Ian Good which will take place on Monday 21 September.

Overseen by a Board of Trustees, Hamilton Park reinvests all profits back into racing, supporting prize money, facilities and the overall experience for owners, trainers and staff. The racecourse was named RCA/ROA Owners’ Racecourse of the Year in 2025, underlining its commitment to excellence. This is the second time that Hamilton Park have received this prestigious accolade in the three years that it’s been awarded, having also won the award in 2023, as well as being shortlisted in 2024.

Ashley Moon, Racecourse Managing Director, said: “We are thrilled to mark our centenary with record prize money and a programme that continues to invest in the quality of racing at Hamilton Park. We look forward to welcoming Owners, Trainers and racegoers to what promises to be a very special season.”
