QIPCO British Champion Series entries close on Tuesday
QIPCO British Champions Day 2021 takes place on Saturday 16th October at Ascot Racecourse. British Champions Series have confirmed that prize-money for the day this year will return to £4 million.
In 2020 there were exceptional performances across all of the categories that form part of QIPCO British Champions Series. Please see below some important information regarding all this year’s races.
Entries
This year, entries for Group races at QIPCO British Champions Day will close on Tuesday 3rd August. Entries for the Balmoral Handicap will close on Tuesday 21st September.
QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup
As in previous years, there are no penalties for Group 1 winners running in the Group 2 QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup.
QIPCO British Champions Day Course Update
The intention is for all the day’s round-course races (the QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup; the QIPCO British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes and the QIPCO Champion Stakes) to be run on the usual Outer Flat course.
However, in the event of heavy appearing in the going description on the day, the races above will switch to the Inner Flat course subject to verification from an independent panel (The Stewards Panel Chair, the BHA Senior Inspector of Courses and a Clerk of Course; independent of BCS) that heavy in the going description had been correctly called. This will only be actioned if the Inner Flat course is safe to use and the decision to switch will be taken as early as possible and no later than 7am.
