Life After Racing: Responsible Ownership 

Wednesday 8 July 2026, 10:00am – 12:30pm, Godolphin Lifetime Care, Newmarket

The Racehorse Owners Association (ROA), in partnership with Godolphin and Retraining of Racehorses is delighted to invite members to an exclusive visit to Godolphin Lifetime Care in Newmarket.  This event is focused on the next stage of a racehorse’s journey beyond the track.

This morning is designed to provide owners with a greater understanding of responsible aftercare, while showcasing the opportunities available for racehorses in their second careers. Through expert insight, practical demonstrations and informal discussion, the event will bring to life the transition from racing to retraining.

Working in collaboration with Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) and leading retrainer Louise Robson, the event will feature a dressage demonstration from Louise and explore the considerations for owners as their horses approach retirement, including traceability and the range of pathways available post-racing.

Guests will also have the opportunity to meet former racehorses now thriving at Godolphin Lifetime Care, including equine ambassador Man of Promise, and gain a unique insight into the work carried out by the GLC team.

10:00am – Arrival at Godolphin Lifetime Care, Newmarket (tea & coffee)
Meet and greet with equine ambassador Man of Promise

10:30am – Welcome from Godolphin Lifetime Care, ROA and RoR

10:45am – Dressage demonstration by Louise Robson (RoR retrainer)

11:15am – Q&A: Retraining and second career opportunities

11:30am – RoR: Responsible ownership and life after racing

11:50am – Stable tour and meet the GLC horses and team

12:30pm – Depart
