Badges

Ascot currently have an allocation of six badges per runner. From British Champions Day and throughout the National Hunt Season this will also include six lunches.

Additional badges can be applied for – contact the course directly for this. Any regional restrictions, the number of other owners attending on the day, and the “rule of six” will be factors influencing if your request can be accommodated.

Owners who live in an area currently under regional or local restrictions are reminded to follow the Government advice in that area.

Please also check your emails from PASS and the racecourse website for further updates on badge allocation and specific attendance protocols.

For members with a runner:

Owners Hospitality

We are delighted that in line with the recent loosening of restrictions by government, owners can also now enjoy one of two complimentary hospitality options available on course.

Option one – Old Paddock Restaurant – We are pleased to offer up to four places per runner in the Old Paddock Restaurant, which must be booked by the Lunch Booking form, attached.  Based in the usual Owners’ and Trainers’ restaurant, this is a complimentary seated three course lunch, including a hot option, as well as afternoon tea.

Following arrival on course through Turnstiles West you will need to collect a lunch ticket for you and the guests who will be dining, as per your booking, from the Owners Hospitality Desk to the left of the turnstiles.

Upon arrival at the Owners Hospitality Desk, the team will endeavour to seat you together whilst also adhering to the government guidance regarding social distancing and the limit of up to two households (including support bubbles) per table.  We thank you in advance for your help and understanding regarding this necessary measure which will allow us to remain compliant with the current regulations, alongside offering the best owners’ experience possible.

Option two – complimentary sandwich or salad from the Tierra Bar – If you would prefer a less formal lunch on course, we are pleased to offer either a takeaway sandwich or salad from the Tierra Bar in the Grandstand.  This is available for all owners attending and complimentary soft drinks, including tea and coffee, will also be available.   A range of other drinks, including alcohol, will be available to purchase here too.   Please note, no bookings or vouchers required.

Before you arrive – booking badges and lunch

Please note all attendance (regardless of whether you are dining or not) will need to be registered through the RCA PASS system.  If you do not have access to the PASS System or need any assistance, please contact either the PASS Helpdesk on 01933 270333 or  pass@weatherbys.co.uk or Olivia Hills, Owners’ and Trainers’ Manager, Ascot, via 07717 516066 or Olivia.hills@ascot.co.uk

If you would like to take advantage of our first hospitality offer, you will need to book in advance via Lunch Booking form, attached.

Racecourse pre-arrival and arrival

Pre-arrival

We have summarized the key requirements for owners before coming on course but further details are also available from the Return to Racecourse Guide for Owners via the Racehorse Owners Association (ROA);

  • Owners are asked to read through the British Horseracing Authority’s (BHA) Owners Guide to racing behind closed doors
  • All owners will need to complete a two-stage screening process ahead of attending the raceday.  This includes completing the  COVID-19 online learning module.   If you have any problems, please call 01183385680. Please note, there is no requirement to bring the health assessment or certificate with you

Arrival

Owners are asked to follow signs for Car Park 2 where they will be directed to enter the Car Park via the “Trainers, Jockeys, Press entrance”

Once you have arrived in the car park, you will be directed by both signage and stewards as to what lane you need to drive in.  At the end of this lane you will reach a gazebo with a team who will confirm your name/details via the PASS system before a medic checks your temperature and asks you a set of health-related questions.

Whilst it is not essential to bring your PASS Card, all owners, guests, and representatives must bring photographic ID with them to the racecourse to allow access.  Failure to do so may result in refused entry

Once you have successfully been accredited, you will be given a wristband and an owner’s specific information sheet, including a map.  The steward/s will then show you where to park.

Owners Hospitality Desk

As outlined above, if you have chosen the first hospitality option of lunch in the Old Paddock Restaurant, all guests booked to dine will need to collect lunch tickets from the desk, shown on Figure 2 below.  Once collected, a host will seat you accordingly in the restaurant.

Please note, the team will endeavor to seat you together whilst also adhering to the government guidance regarding social distancing and the limit of up to two households (including support bubbles) per table.  Thank you again for your understanding and help regarding this.

You do not need to visit the Owners Hospitality Desk if you have opted for the second hospitality option.

Racecourse facilities and arrangements

Owners will have access to a dedicated zone.  To confirm, this area will be separated from all racing personnel (including Trainers, Racing Staff, Jockeys, Officials, Media, and racecourse personnel dedicated within this area).  Please note, as guided by the BHA, these two segregated zones exist for infection control purposes, therefore limiting exposure between the two groups.  To confirm, no movement will be permitted between the two areas of the racecourse at any time.

Once parked, Owners will enter the racecourse via Turnstiles West as highlighted in Figure 2.

Race cards

Upon entry at Turnstiles West, you will be handed a simplified printed racecard.  For a more detailed version, you will be able to access the electronic race cards via the website.  Ascot WiFi is free to join; all you need to do is select the network and then follow the on-screen prompts to connect.

Racing Personnel/Owners Briefing Zone

There are three designated briefing areas for Owners and Racing Personnel (Trainers/Jockeys/officials/media).  We kindly ask that you continue to adhere to the necessary social distancing protocols in these areas and take note of any specific signage providing guidance in these areas.

Parade Ring

Whilst we will not be able to permit Owners access to the Parade Ring for this raceday, you will be able to view the Parade Ring from either the designated stepping area’s around the Parade Ring, or at the top of the stepping’s.

Betting

To confirm, no betting terminals will be available on course however we would encourage you to bet with Ascot’s Official Bookmaker, Betfred.  You can access online betting via the complimentary Ascot WiFi on your mobile phone; all you need to do is select the network and then follow the on-screen prompts to connect.
