Bonus Races and Qualifiers
There are a number of schemes designed to incentivise owners by offering enhanced prize-money and bonuses. We have a full rundown of those on offer here. Please refer to each scheme's website or the Racing Calendar for updates and full information.
EBF Races
The European Breeders’ Fund (EBF) supports enhanced prize-money throughout Europe. Nominated horses can enter EBF races throughout their entire racing career. The majority of maiden two-year-old races in Great Britain, Ireland, France, and Germany are programmed for EBF-eligible horses.
Great British Bonus
Great British Bonus (GBB) is a prize scheme for the breeders and owners of British-bred Flat and Jumps horses that successfully race in Great Britain. Owners, breeders and the winning connections of each horse can win up to £20,000 per eligible race.
The scheme is open to GB-bred fillies and mares on both the Flat and over the Jumps who qualify under the following categories:
- 100% GBB - up to £20,000 bonus. Foals born in GB, sired by stallions standing in GB.
- 50% GBB - up to £10,000 bonus. Foals born in GB, sired by stallions standing abroad.

Jockey Club Grassroots Series
The Jockey Club’s Grassroots Series provides opportunities for horses operating below the highest level to compete for substantial prize money and is a series that has been well supported in previous years.
All the qualifiers are either Class 4, Class 5 or Class 6 races with the finals open to all qualifiers.
Qualification for the respective finals requires horses to have run in a minimum of one qualification race throughout the season, of which there are at least 16 staged across Jockey Club Racecourses in each series (80 qualifiers in total).
London Qualifying Series
The London Qualifying Series’ at Kempton Park this year will have two new categories.
- London Stayers’ Series, which culminates with an Open Final on Wednesday 7th December for £80,000.
- London Sprint Series, culminating with an Open Final on Wednesday 9th November for £80,000.
The introduction of these two new series complements the current successful London Mile and London Middle Distance versions, the finals of which are also worth £80,000.

Sky Bet Sunday Series
SKYBET SERIES RETURNS WITH OWNER BONUS
The Sky Bet Sunday Series returns even bigger and better this year, with the organisers revealing that an additional £250,000 of bonuses and prizes will be on offer for jockeys, apprentices, trainers, owners, and stable staff.
That’s on top of the bumper £1.2m of prize money already on offer across the six fixtures which are all shown in their entirety on a late Sunday afternoon slot on terrestrial television on ITV4, as well as Racing TV.
The bonuses and prizes linking the Sky Bet Sunday Series include:
- £100,000 to the owner of the first horse to win three races in the Series
- £100,000 to the first jockey to ride seven winners in the Series
- £25,000 to the first trainer to train seven winners in the Series
- Stable Staff prizes to the three leading stables with guaranteed prizes of £10,000 (1st), £3,000 (2nd) and £2,000 (3rd), based on points from winners, seconds, thirds and runners
- Prize for winning apprentice (based on most wins/places in the Series), including a 12-month sponsorship from Sporting Life (worth £5k) and Media training/internship with Racing TV
- Enhanced Best Turned Out: £250 per race (split for 1st, 2nd and 3rd) for all races in the Series
The Sky Bet Sunday Series is open to all trainers who have horses eligible for the race conditions.
Sales Races
Sales races are specific races which are confined to horses purchased at a particular auction. The conditions for each vary, but a common feature is that entries for these races generally close several months before they take place, usually before a horse’s ability is known, and the entry fees are generally high.
The race conditions will set out the forfeit stages where connections have to either opt-out of the race to avoid any more charges, or stay in and pay the next entry stage.
Although prize-money on offer is high and offers rich rewards for prize-winners, the sponsor’s contribution is generally low, with almost all the prize-money contributed by owners’ entry fees.
