Members invited to explore Life After Racing at Godolphin Lifetime Care
The Racehorse Owners Association (ROA), in partnership with Godolphin and Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) is delighted to invite ROA members to a visit to Godolphin Lifetime Care in Newmarket on Wednesday 8 July 2026.
Life After Racing: Responsible Ownership will focus on the next stage of a racehorse’s journey beyond the track and provide owners with valuable insight into responsible aftercare and retraining opportunities. The morning will combine expert advice, demonstrations and informal discussion to bring to life the transition from racing to second careers.
Renowned retrainer Louise Robson of Thoroughbred Dressage will provide a dressage demonstration, as well as the RoR highlighting the considerations for owners as their horses approach retirement from racing. Topics will include traceability, retraining pathways and the support available to owners as horses move into life beyond the sport.
Guests will also have the opportunity to meet former racehorses now thriving at Godolphin Lifetime Care, including their flagbearer Man of Promise, while gaining a unique insight into the work undertaken by their team.

“Racehorses are incredibly versatile athletes and it’s always rewarding to help owners see the potential their horses have beyond racing. Retraining is about understanding the individual horse and giving them the opportunity to thrive in a new environment and discipline. I am really looking forward this event and to help owners better understand the transition process and the many positive pathways available for horse when they leave racing.”
