Welfare - horsepwr.co.uk

The BHA and GBR have launched a new campaign, designed to promote the facts around welfare in horseracing, and to challenge and correct inaccurate information shared by people who are opposed to our sport.

It is called HorsePWR. The campaign will help put the industry in a much better place to stand up for our sport and educate people about the facts.

The campaign website is www.horsepwr.co.uk

As the largest investors into the sport, owners can make a genuine difference. To ensure that as many people as possible hear about it, we are asking that you share the campaign through your own contacts and any social media channels that you use. This is about everyone helping support the racing industry wherever they can.

How you can help

The eyes of the world will be on the sport as we build up to the Grand National over the next 10 days. This is our opportunity to address the widespread misinformation shared about our sport.

This time around, we are ready to provide the true picture, but to really make our mark, we need collectively to raise awareness of our work.

There are two simple ways you can take part in HorsePWR:

1. Spread the word

Use your social media accounts to spread the message. We have prepared a variety of suggested posts and some images from the campaign, to make it as easy as possible. The more people we can reach with the true facts, the better. That’s where you come in.

  • View and/or share suggested social media posts
  • Download the campaign images - a selection of which can be seen below

Please note, we would also encourage you to use your own words on any social media posts. If doing so, please remember to use:

2. Visit the website

Please take a moment to visit the website here: www.horsepwr.co.uk. You’ll find all the facts around horse welfare in racing. It’s accurate information, explaining what we do as a sport to care for horses.

What’s next for the campaign?

This is just the start. HorsePWR will continue to grow in 2024 and beyond. Welfare concerns are the single biggest barrier to engagement with our sport amongst potential fans, but it is not about persuading the unpersuadable, it’s about improving the perception of our sport and ensuring racing continues to thrive into the future.

To make a true impact, we want to grow the campaign to be able to reach bigger audiences with the facts.

Thank you for your help.
