15 April 2024

Julian Taylor has been announced as the new Chairman of Aintree Racecourse. He succeeds Nicholas Wrigley and will take up his position following the 2024 Randox Grand National Festival (Thursday 11th April – Saturday 13th April inclusive).

Taylor spent 40 years in the City working in the insurance industry and previously served as Chairman of Huntingdon Racecourse from 2019 to 2023. A racehorse owner, he was also previously an amateur jockey riding in point-to-points and hunter chases.

Julian Taylor said: “As a lifelong Jump racing enthusiast, I am delighted to be appointed Chairman of Aintree Racecourse.

“The Randox Grand National is known the world over with its rich history and I am honoured to be in a position where I will be entrusted to help move the great race forward in the years ahead.”

Sandy Dudgeon, Senior Steward of The Jockey Club, said: “With his background and knowledge of Jump racing, Julian was the perfect candidate to become the new Chairman of Aintree Racecourse. I would like to congratulate him on his new role and extend my very best wishes for the months and years ahead.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to outgoing Chairman Nicholas Wrigley.

“Nicholas assumed the role in the most challenging of circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic and following the tragic death of Rose Paterson; he has been a highly effective Chairman and a great inspiration to all.”
